Colilert-18 is used for the simultaneous detection and confirmation of total coliforms and E. coli in fresh and marine waters. It is based on IDEXX’s patented Defined Substrate Technology® (DST®). When total coliforms metabolize Colilert-18’s nutrient-indicator, ONPG, the sample turns yellow.
