DCF shelters are usually good for 200-250 nights. That doesn’t sound like a lot but even when I was able to get out a lot that was 4-5 years. Now with kids playing sports year round and a career it’s closer to 8-10 years. If a pack is good for 2000 miles that’s probably 3-4 years for most people – sometimes more.
