How durable is DCF?
DCF shelters are usually good for 200-250 nights. That doesn’t sound like a lot but even when I was able to get out a lot that was 4-5 years. Now with kids playing sports year round and a career it’s closer to 8-10 years. If a pack is good for 2000 miles that’s probably 3-4 years for most people – sometimes more.
Is the Gossamer Gear Mariposa waterproof?
They use a conventional one-way zipper and are made from the same Robic nylon as the rest of the backpack. This means that — like the rest of the backpack — they are water-resistant but not waterproof. The integrated hip belt pockets found on the Gossamer Gear Mariposa are pretty decent in size.
Is Robic nylon waterproof?
ROBIC® nylon has very high tensile strength for its weight. The material features a fully waterproof polyurethane coating.
Should I use a pack liner?
Either way it’s a good idea to use a liner, since a cover can still let water in from the backpanel, and a cover won’t protect the contents if you happen to fall in a river. Some people like a cover as well to keep the outside of their pack dryer, but I find them to be too much hassle for too little benefit.
